MinneSalsa Wins
Major International Food Industry Award
(March 8, 2004) Results of the 2004 Scovie Awards, one of the
top international food competitions have just been announced,
and Minnesota based MinneSalsa is among the winners. The
MinneSalsa Company, which manufactures a line of gourmet salsas,
received a 1st place Scovie Award at this year's competition;
the competition is widely accepted as the top award for hot and
spicy foods internationally.
Hundreds of products from around the world competed for top
honors. The Scovie Awards, which are presented by Fiery-Foods
and BBQ Magazine, along with Sunbelt Shows, producers of the
National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show, were recently announced in
Albuquerque, NM. The awards, named for Wilbur Scoville who
pioneered a rating scale for spicy foods, have become the
industry standard for excellence.
Mark Bourget and Clyde Wagner founded the MinneSalsa Company in
1997. They had a very simple mission: To create a gourmet salsa
that tasted homemade and fresh. They achieved this mission by
selecting premium tomatoes, eliminating preservatives and using
a unique Micro-Brewing process. Micro-Brewing allows them to
control the temperature on each and every batch, preserving the
fresh, crisp flavor of each select ingredient.
